Emergency ! International solidarity !
The 12th of August 1999, in Millau (South of France) 5 (five) militants of
the union called the Peasant's Confederation (Confédération paysanne in
french) has dismantled a McDonald's for protest against american embargo
against french production. The European Union refused to import US hormone's
meat. This action wasn't a nationalist act of protestation but it is a new
step against the capitalist globalisation.
The Confédération paysanne (CNT is very close to this union and we work many
time together) fight against " genetics organism modified " and for a "
human face agriculture " and for protect the individual wealth and the
environment. In June 99, the Confédération paysanne, CNT and Indians
peasants members of KRRS (Indian's union) had burnt a field of genetic
modified colza. At the international level, The Confédération paysanne
support the landless movement in Brazil and the zapatist struggle.
Seven days after the direct action against McDonald's, the five members of
Confédération paysanne was arrested. Four has been free after the paid of an
incredible bail of 420 000 FF ! - 105 000 by comrade - Only one, José Bové,
a historical and radical member of the union stay in jail. He refuses to be
released on bail. Explications : the bail is the french law is not common
practice but the state uses it for " break " unions or organisations with
very important financial costs ! State did the same thing against
unemployement movement the last year.
After 50 actions against McDonald's, the company stand down her complaint.
We need international solidarity, you can send us solidarity message for the
Confédération paysanne and José Bové, the CNT sends on. You can asked to
french state delegation in your countries the release of José Bové.
For the first time in France, peasant's unions and workers unions are
involved in a same struggle : against international capitalism ! !
