3 comrades (Christina, Federico and Constantino) of the "Silvestre" group in
Pisa (issuing an anarchist animal and earth liberation journal) have been
stopped and arrested on August 7th 1999 at 6:00 a.m., while going home with
a moped and a bike. They are accused of having thrown a molotov cocktail on
a Mercedes dealer, at about 3,2 kilometres away from the point where they
got arrested.
A private security guard claims to recognise them, even if he can only give
a partial description of the people he had seen. He says to have seen people
with bags, hats, hoods etc. but none of the 3 arrested had any of these
articles on him-/herself. The police had immediately noticed who they were
and so there were no doubts of their guilt. Moreover the police claims a
plastic bottle on the moped, used to collect oil and the dusters with it, to
be another molotov cocktail. The newspapers reported that the 3 anarchists
had been found while doing the action, with another molotov on their moped.
Fortunately the 3 comrades had to spend just one day in jail. Now they are
waiting for their trial, which should take place in a couple of months. The
police has refused to handle out some papers, which would be useful for the
lawyers to prepare the defence.
After the arrest of these 3 comrades there were several searchings at their
homes and also at the office of the Silvestre group, looking for explosives.
A lot of information material was being confiscated during this action. At
the home of Federico the cops found his brother with some dope lying in his
bed and he was marked for this.
It is expected that the police are trying to construct something bigger out
of this, as in the newspapers was also a note on some previous fire attacks
in the same city (against Shell and revendicated with anarchist symbols),
which had been undertaken 40 days before this incident. In this occasion the
local newspaper put the news on the front page, talking of an international
anarchist gang. So let's hope the 3 comrades won't be accused also of these
other attacks and that the police doesn't intend to create another criminal
gang (like in the Marini and Ionta cases).
The 3 activists are risking a minimum prison sentence of 3 years, if found
guilty. They have already problems to pay the lawyers and need some money
(donations can be sent to Anarchist Black Cross Innsbruck, we will pass it
on). Nevertheless the comrades intend to go on publishing their journal and
won't shut up!
